MAC TO THE FUTURE

Watch never-before-seen footage of Conor McGregor KOing Jose Aldo at UFC 194 ahead of return vs Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone

NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN footage of Conor McGregor’s famous 13-second knockout against Jose Aldo has been released ahead of the UFC star’s comeback.

McGregor scored the quickest KO in UFC title fight history on December 12, the night he dethroned Aldo of the featherweight title.

The left hand was seen around the world - but now it can be watched through a brand new angle.

As McGregor prepares to face Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on January 18 looking for his first win in over three years, the promotion has reminded fans of his devastating power.

The familiar KO at UFC 194 is this time shown from over The Notorious’ shoulder and his perfectly timed left hook leaves Aldo out for the count.

Since that win in 2015 McGregor has gone on to become the first UFC fighter to hold two belts at the same time, box and lose to Floyd Mayweather, and then go on a winless run.

Despite his millionaire fortunes rocketing each year, results in the cage have remained uninspiring with the Irishman coming off a loss to bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018.

But ahead of the southpaw’s return, his trainer John Kavanagh insisted McGregor is free from distractions and back to his best - teasing a career high performance against Cerrone.

Kavanagh told : “With Conor’s fight IQ, Conor’s understanding of the game, really this training camp is about all of us getting out of his way.

“Provide him with an environment where he can have different looks, different feels and support him where he wants the training camp to go, in intensities and listening to him where he has days where he wants to push hard and days where he wants to slow down.

“It’s not so much about us coaches sitting there on a game plan and filling Conor in. Conor knows more about fighting than the rest of us put together.

“I think this is the best he’s ever been. And the reason why I’m saying that is because of the consistency over the last few months.

“There’s a real return to smiling on the mat, enjoying it, having fun and it’s a cliche to say but a happy fighter is a dangerous fighter.

“He just seems really happy with his life and with his training and with the environment we have here, and competing again, and having those exchanges and so on. So I think this is the best he’s ever been.”
