Today’s FREE ITV racing tips: Kelso and Newbury – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for the racing this Saturday, March 23

Steve Mullen guides you through Saturday's racing at Kelso and Newbury

BITE the bookies on the backside today.

SHE MITE BITE (3.15 Newbury) was unlucky at Ludlow last time out and can bounce back in style to take this valuable prize.

Nicky Henderson’s mare was tanking along like the winner there before being brought down three out.

She looked full of running and it would have taken a mighty effort to stop her coming home in front.

That was her second good handicap effort after she was an excellent second at Sandown last month.

It was a decent contest and she was right in contention until her lack of experience may have told in the closing stages.

She has a lot more to offer and should run well in an open race.

The White Mouse has shown a lot in three hurdles outings with two good wins and a second. She looked a nice prospect when scooting in at Doncaster last time and this trip is right up her street.

Trainer Lucy Wadham has her horses in good nick and there should be a lot more to come.

Richard Johnson is a good booking for Millarville who won well at Fontwell in January before a solid third there last time out. This is a tougher contest but there is a lot more to come.

THE KNOT IS TIED (2.40 Newbury) can rope them all in.

He has been knocking on the door with a run of good seconds, including when unlucky at Sandown last time out.

Believe it or not, he almost got blown off his feet in stormy conditions there and did well to keep going.

The form of his earlier runner-up effort at Huntingdon looks good when he was beaten in a ding-dong battle with the potentially useful Dyliev.

Richard Johnson takes over from the unfortunate Bryony Frost today and he can conjure up the little bit of improvement he needs to get home in front.

Groveman was a good second at Sedgefield last time out after solid runs at Doncaster and Catterick since switching from the all-weather. He will be suited by this slight step up from 2m and has a lot more to offer.

Friend Or Foe is interesting for Paul Nicholls. He showed little in his native France before winning a minor Taunton contest on his UK debut last time out. This is a step forward from that but he has more to offer and can figure.

Elysees is another to note after a run on the level at Wolverhampton latest.

He was beaten a neck in a Doncaster Grade 2 hurdle before that and trainer Alan King has his horses in good heart.

SOME CHAOS got the job done well at Wincanton last time and can follow up in Kelso’s 3.00.

He’s been in cracking form since coming back from a long break and was making it three wins from his past five outings in the west country 35 days ago.

This slight step up in distance shouldn’t be an issue and he drew clear from a long way out so even an 11lb rise in the weights doesn’t put you off.

Le Reve looks a threat after taking the Grand Military Gold Cup at Sandown last time and a heavy ground chase at Lingfield. The more rain the better for her hopes.

Cross your fingers and hope for the best about TOMKEVI (3.35 Kelso).

He has masses of talent but makes the odd error, including when looking like the winner at Southwell last time out.

He unseated his amateur pilot at the last there having earlier landed good wins at Haydock and Wetherby.

He can bounce back and go close at what could be rewarding odds.
