Best horse racing tips for today’s action at Wetherby, Fakenham, Southwell and Chelmsford from Tom Bull
Don't miss out on Tom Bull's best bets at Thursday's meetings
I was all set for a cracking day at Hereford yesterday only to find out the freezing temperatures had fixed their claws firmly in the ground.
There are more inspections on Thursday but I'm hoping for a serious thaw so that the show can get back on the road.
Wetherby
1.05 Briac - Won absurdly easily at Sedgefield on Monday and is 7lb well-in here switched back to hurdles.
Take into account Charlie Price's 7lb claim (he's already ridden two winners in his short career) and he's effectively running off the same mark.
This is a more competitive race but he still sneaks into a 0-105. He should win again and reward a shrewd piece of placing by Tim Vaughan.
Fakenham
3.10 Sideways - Christian Williams is enjoying a successful period at the moment and this one has won his last two in good style.
Fakenham can be a tricky track to negotiate so the fact he's been there and done it is a big positive.
He was impressive at Sedgefield and can defy another rise in the weights from the bottom of the handicap.
Bully's Thursday Bankers
Wetherby 1.05 - Briac
Fakenham 3.10 - Sideways
Southwell 2.20 - Moonraker
Chelmsford 7.25 - Navajo Star
Southwell
2.20 Moonraker - Only gone up 2lb for his win over course and distance last time and that form has worked out well with the third going on to strike twice since.
Michael Appleby has a very good record with horses on this surface and this one surely has more to come now that he's got a taste for it.
It's not a strong race and he's handicapped to do the business once again.
Chelmsford
7.25 Navajo Star - Perhaps this consistent sort can finally get his head in front.
He was a good second to a progressive type at Kempton last time and there's nothing of that calibre in this contest.
He's a strong stayer over the trip and can get the better of a field full of dead wood.
