Saturday racing tips: A Saturday longshot to fill your pockets at Kempton from Jack Keene
Don't miss out on these each-way bets for Saturday, January 12 from Jack Keene
IT MIGHTN'T be one of the most glamorous Saturday's of the year.
But I love the Lanzarote Hurdle at my local track Kempton, and this year's race is an absolute belter.
MELLOW BEN (2.40) went straight into my notebook after his near-miss over C&D on Boxing Day.
The six-year-old cruised through the race having been held up in last place early by Tom Cannon, and he was hard on the bridle turning in.
But the eventual winner Erick Le Rouge (who runs here too and is worth a small saver) was able to dictate at his own tempo up front.
He stole a march on Mellow Ben, who still held every chance approaching the last, but the selection was steadied and made a mistake while the winner winged it, sealing the race.

2.40 Kempton: Mellow Ben: 'Shade unlucky when second here last time and clearly improving'
Nevertheless, that was a career-best from Mellow Ben, who should get a much stronger pace to aim at today.
He has ground conditions in his favour, he is progressive and looks up to winning off his revised mark.
Furthermore, six-year-old's have a brilliant record in the Lanzarote, having won five of the last nine runnings.
