3.00 WARWICK: Classic Chase

HORSES coming back from a break have a modest record so Sizing Codelco, Un Temps Pour Tout and Step Back have a mountain to climb.

Winning last time out has been a big minus, with just one last-time scorer coming out on top in the past 10 runnings.

That means we’ll overlook Cogry and Carole’s Destrier.

A chase win over 3m or further has also been important so Ultragold, Calett Mad and Impulsive Star are red-penned.

At the top of the weights, Ibis Du Rheu is a little high in the official ratings to be winning this race.

Although this has gone to outsiders, Chase The Spud and Crosspark look a little long in the market.

That leaves us with last year’s hero Milansbar and Duel At Dawn as the final two.

There haven’t been any repeat winners in the past decade and 12 is a little old to be taking this.

So we’ll go for DUEL AT DAWN. He came back from a long break to show some promise at Haydock last month and should be much fitter for that outing.
