Free horse racing tips for today: Hereford, Ayr, Newcastle and Wolverhampton – The Wizard of Odds’ betting preview for the racing this Wednesday, January 2

The Wizard of Odds guides you through Wednesday's racing at Hereford, Ayr, Newcastle and Wolverhampton

NEWMARKET WARRIOR (5.45 Newcastle) got no luck in running when finishing second over course and distance last time out.

He is likely to have won with a clearer passage and the handicapper has taken a risk by leaving his mark alone.

1

He won a stronger race than this at Ayr in September and is right at home on this tapeta surface.

PEACHEY CARNEHAN (1.45 Wolverhampton) has been in excellent form and has every chance of landing the hat-trick of wins.

He carries a 6lb penalty for a convincing victory over course and distance last week when he managed to win despite fluffing the start.

That suggests that there was a lot more in the tank if required and this race is no stronger than the other two he’s won.

GO LONG (2.30 Hereford) came back from a year off to be beaten less than two lengths at Haydock last time out.

He jumped well on that chasing debut having been lightly raced over hurdles.

He should have learned plenty from that experience and will be a lot fitter for the comeback outing. He should improve and it wouldn’t take a lot more to win this.

Wizard's magic tips...

  • EACH-WAY DOUBLE: NO NO JOLIE (12.50 Hereford) came from a long way back to finish an excellent second at Leicester last time out. He’s up just 1lb for that and should have no problem with this slightly longer distance. Pair him with MINUTY (1.10 Wolverhampton) who showed promise when second on debut at Kempton last time out.
  • MONEY TALKS: TIMESAWAITING was backed off the boards before finishing fourth last time out. Keep an eye on him in Ayr’s 1.35.
  • HOT FORM: Michael Dods has a 67% strike-rate in the past 14 days. He has just one runner today — DUTCH PURSUIT (4.45 Newcastle).

FRANKIE RAPPER (3.00 Hereford) has been running well this season and was beaten in a bobbing finish at Uttoxeter last time out.

He stayed on well to the finish over the 2m4f distance and should be happier with this step up in distance.
