Politologue to drop back in trip after admirable King George fourth
Paul Nicholls' chaser will revert to the tried and tested after his stamina gave out in the Boxing Day Grade 1
POLITOLOGUE is set for a drop in trip after failing to see out three miles in the King George on Boxing Day.
Paul Nicholls' Tingle Creek winner ran a valiant race but couldn't lay a hand on his stablemate Clan Des Obeaux.
The star chaser is now likely to revert to shorter distances following his fourth in the Grade 1 contest.
Owner John Hales said: "They certainly went off a good pace - but it looked like he didn't get the three miles. That was always the question mark.
"He will go back to racing over two and a half miles, and two-miles-five. We will look at the Ascot Chase in February now.
"He will then have a crack at the Ryanair at Cheltenham.

"I am disappointed with the result, but the most important thing is he came back safe and sound.
"He is only seven, so he has plenty of good days ahead of him."
Nicholls continued his excellent run of form on Thursday, with two Graded victories courtesy of Dynamite Dollars and Quel Destin.
