Friday’s horse racing NAP: Your best bet for today’s racing from Callum Jamieson

Don't miss out on today's best tip across all the cards up and down the land

ANOTHER close shave but no cigar on Thursday, as Amoola Gold travelled much the best before pecking the second-last and ruining any chance.

It was also reported he was lame, so he'll certainly have another day in the sun. Next time.

I tried my best to NAP something at Cheltenham but couldn't stay away from what looks a good thing on the all weather.

TAMERLANE (Kempton, 8.45) looks a late night Friday shoe in on the all weather for Clive Cox.

He looks to have a very similar profile to my Wednesday NAP, for the same trainer, who just came up short but is undoubtedly well-handicapped.

Like Get Back Get Back, this three-year-old is very lightly-tried and this will be only his fifth run.

The penny finally dropped over course and distance last time and he was laughing at the handicapper as he cruised over the line.

The handicapper reacted by putting him up 8lbs - although he races under a 6lbs penalty here, so is technically well in.

He showed plenty of promise in patches in three novice events before the application of blinkers and a more persuasive ride brought out heaps of improvement.

It was only a Class 6 he struck in, but was a good race for the grade, with the front three pulling miles clear.

The form of Clive Cox is another huge plus, with runner after runner going well over the last week. He has another strong team at Kempton on Friday and let's hope this youngster can do the business as we head into the weekend.

Follow for all his latest tips and thoughts on the great game.

Elsewhere on Friday...

In the ITV races VALADOM (Bangor, 2.10) and MIDNIGHT TARGET (Cheltenham, 1.55) look cracking each way bets.

Midnight Target still looks nicely treated and was a Listed winner over course and distance at the end of last season. She ran well on her reappearance behind a horse miles ahead of the handicapper.

Valadom ran well at Cheltenham last time out in a hotter race and connections clearly think he's ready to expose his mark over hurdles.
