Wednesday’s horse racing NAP: Your best bet for today’s racing from Callum Jamieson

Don't miss out on today's best tip across all the cards up and down the land

T’WAS another frustrating second yesterday, with the heavily-punted Honest Work being nabbed in the closing strides.

Still, the picks are running well and I fancy the resurgent Donald McCain to take us one better on Wednesday at what looks set to be a boggy Haydock.

It’s been a slow start to the campaign for McCain, but his runners have slowly shown the right signs in recent weeks and they burst into life on Monday.

The Cheshire-based handler had three winners and two seconds from five runners at Musselburgh, a good days work.

HILLS OF DUBAI (Haydock, 3.00) can keep up the run in a winnable handicap chase.

The nine-year-old has clearly had his troubles, being very lightly-raced, but goes well in the mud and has a good record off the back of breaks.

Last year he was progressing over fences until he lost his way as the spring rolled in.

A summer off should have put him right and I’m sure there’s more to come from this chap in these mid-level handicaps.

He’s won on heavy up at Ayr and has a decent second to his name at Haydock on soft. There’s plenty of rain forecast and it would certainly inconvenience the majority of his rivals, more than it would so him.

Elsewhere on Wednesday...

Staying at Haydock, I’ll give one more chance to NAYATI (2.25) who I’m certain is a much better horse than his mark suggests. He should finally get his conditions too.

Then it’s over to the all weather, where the cliff horse MAGIC MIRROR (Kempton, 7.00) will get another each way dart. The consistent mare is once again at her beloved Kempton and the step up in trip should give her plenty of time to demonstrate her turn of foot at this level.
