Former Gold Cup hero Sizing John set for more time out after wind operation
Jessica Harrington's classy chaser was engaged to run at Navan on Sunday
SIZING JOHN faces another stint on the sidelines after suffering a setback which rules him out of Navan's Fortria Chase.
The 2017 Gold Cup winner hasn't been seen on a racecourse since flopping in last year's Christmas Chase at Leopardstown.
Trainer Jessica Harrington has confirmed her stable star will need even more time off the track following a minor wind operation to sort out his wind.
The eight-year-old had only just recovered from a fractured pelvis but will now miss his intended comeback in the Grade 2 Fortria Chase on Sunday.
The trainer told her www.unibet.co.uk blog: "Sadly Sizing John will not make his intended seasonal reappearance in Navan this weekend after we discovered a small problem with his wind.
"He did a routine piece of work yesterday (Sunday) morning and we weren't 100 per cent happy with him so the vets checked him out this morning and we found out he needed to undergo a small wind procedure, which was conducted this afternoon and all went well.

"It's not serious, but he will be on the easy list for two to three weeks before resuming full work and, all being well, we hope to have him ready in time for Christmas."
