The Wizard of Odds guides you through Monday's racing at Leicester, Chelmsford, Ayr and Redcar

DON LOGAN (12.45 Leicester) did well to finish a close-up second on his handicap debut at Pontefract last time out.

He had the worst of the draw there and was forced to race wide, away from the pace and adding yards to his trip.

The winner has come out to frank the form since and the step up from 6f to a mile should bring improvement too. For good measure this is a drop in class and a 2lb rise in the weights looks more than fair.

QURI (12.55 Ayr) looked a nice prospect when finishing second at Tramore last time out. She has moved across the Irish Sea since and looks hard to beat on this debut for Tom Lacey.

Champion jockey Richard Johnson is an eyecatching booking and she already looks suited by this 2m4f trip.

She should really have won last time and might have done but for giving up plenty of ground with a wide run. This doesn’t look the strongest of mares’ hurdles and she’ll be hard to beat.

MOLTEN MAGNA Magna Grecia sails home to give Aidan O'Brien ninth win in Vertem Futurity

ISLAND JUNGLE looks hard to beat in Redcar’s 1.05. This son of Teofilo stands out on breeding and has already shown plenty of potential on his two runs.

He started with a solid fifth at Brighton before stepping up on that to finish a decent fourth at Haydock last time. On both outings he wasn’t asked too many questions and hinted at ability.

He takes a drop in class today and, while this qualifies him for handicaps, it would be disappointing if he wasn’t good enough to get the win.

Wizard's magic tips...

LUCKY 15: DON LOGAN (12.45 Leicester), QURI (12.55 Ayr), ISLAND JUNGLE (1.05 Redcar), SUCH PROMISE (1.20 Leicester).

EACH-WAY DOUBLE: FIRMAMENT (3.05 Leicester) had no luck running in a hot race at Ascot last time after earlier going close in a couple of good races. This trip suits and he’s down the weights even before his rider takes another 3lb off. Pair him with STORM NELSON (3.15 Ayr) has some decent form in the book from earlier this year, including when third at Perth last time. He has every chance of hitting the frame taking a drop in class.

SUCH PROMISE can live up to his name by winning the 1.20 at Leicester.

After going well in three maidens, he started off in handicaps with an excellent third at Catterick last time out.

He has always looked a miler and more in the making so he did well to go so close over a trip that was on the short side. It was telling that he was gaining with every stride in the final 50 yards.

Trainer Mike Murphy makes the wise move of upping him back to 7f today and that should do the trick.
