Free horse racing tips for today: Kempton, Plumpton, Windsor and Pontefract – The Wizard of Odds’ betting preview for Monday, October 22
The Wizard of Odds guides you through Monday's racing at Kempton, Windsor, Pontefract and Plumpton
CROWNTHORPE can be king in Windsor’s 4.10.
He ran a cracker in a stronger race than this at Haydock last time where he went down in a real head-bobber.
As that was just three days ago, he gets to run off the same mark today before the handicapper gets stuck in.
Dropping in class looks another wise move and this trip on soft ground are his ideal conditions.
He hasn’t managed to win for a while but won’t get a better chance than this.
RENE MATHIS is the claimer king can land another win in Windsor’s 2.40.
ONE LAST ROAR Ascot hero Roaring Lion could take up Breeders' Cup challenge
He’s won in this class at Chester and Wolverhampton this season and should have no issues with the drop back to the 6f trip.
He wasn’t disgraced in a much better race than this last time and should take plenty of beating.
Satchville Flyer has been knocking at the door and drops down from handicap company with a solid chance. He needs to raise his game but can give the selection most to do.
ACE VENTURA (3.10 Windsor) didn’t enjoy his trip to Epsom last time but should do much better today.
Wizard's top tips
EACH-WAY DOUBLE: VAN GERWEN (5.30 Pontefract) can hit the bullseye in this competitive handicap. He has dropped to 2lb above his last winning mark and didn’t enjoy the 6f trip at Ayr last time.
Pair him with TIMES PAST (6.10 Kempton) who showed real promise on debut here last time out and should do a lot better today.
IN-FORM: Simon Crisford continues to have his horses in excellent nick so keep a close eye on Maybe Today (3.40 Windsor) and Imperial Charm (6.40 Kempton).
That was just his fourth run and the second this season after he had a quiet spin around Chelmsford in June.
He loved soft ground when winning his maiden at Salisbury last season and gets those conditions for the first time since.
The handicapper has nudged him down the weights and he has enough quality to strike.
IMAGINATIVE (4.00 Pontefract) can get the better of Gifts Of Gold in what should be a good contest.
Both horses come here looking open to plenty of improvement and the selection did well to finish second at Nottingham last time out.
That was in a fairly strong handicap and this drop back into maiden company gives him every chance of getting off the mark.
KING CNUT (2.50 Plumpton) looks the best bet over the sticks today.
He came back from eight months off to finish a good second on his chasing debut over course and distance last time out.
That already looks better form than he was showing as a hurdler and there should be plenty of improvement to come.
