Monday’s racing tips: Two longshots to fill your pockets at Windsor and Pontefract
Don't miss out on these each-way bets for Monday, October 22
THE National Hunt action comes from Plumpton on Monday, but with small fields we stick to the Flat for today’s longshots.
Windsor, Pontefract and Kempton all host competitive cards and there’s a couple of runners that look overpriced.
1.40 Windsor – Staffa
Jockey Oisin Murphy could not be in better form and he’s now starting to really get the best out of every horse he rides.
So it’s worth taking a punt on Denis Coakley’s STAFFA in the opening handicap.
Despite being a maiden on turf there are plenty of pointers to her running a good race.
She may only have two all-weather wins to her name but the five-year-old mare went close on her last start over course and distance when third back in August.
That run puts her in the mix today and she’s already proven she goes well on soft ground in her career.
5.00 Pontefract – Wishing Well
This marathon trip will take some getting and WISHING WELL relished the distance when finishing third over course and distance last time.
We will have to take a chance that she can back that performance up with her record undeniably patchy, but it was a promising run at odds of 50-1 last time.
Sadly, we won’t be seeing those sort of odds this time but she can make the frame again and will be suited by today’s conditions.
