Best horse racing tips: Sun Racing’s top picks for today’s racing at Newton Abbot, Newmarket, York and Wolverhampton

THE weekend has arrived a day early, with Group 1 action centre stage in front of the ITV cameras at Newmarket.

We've studied the form and picked out our best bets across the four cards up and down the country.

Newton Abbot

Best bet

2.15 Benatar - Off the back of a long break but improved no end through last season. This looks a good race to start off in and a repeat of his Cheltenham effort would see him go very close here.

4.00 Midnight Glory - Fell away towards the end of last season but looks well handicapped on earlier efforts. Best efforts have come on this ground too.

Newmarket

Best bet

3.00 Limato - Finally back to sprinting trips and it's already paying dividends. Looks the class act in this field and hard to oppose if he gets his good ground.

Each way

3.35 Beyond Reason - Below par in the Molyglare last time. Hard to think that's her true running and she looks a big price if she can bounce back to her French Group 2 efforts.

York

Best bet

4.25 Holmeswood - Frustrating to follow but his third at this track a few runs back is stand out form and a repeat of that should see him home here.

2.40 Get Knotted - Course specialist and still looks well weighted to run another big race here. Looks a very tempting price and posted another blinder at Ayr last time.

Wolverhampton

Best bet

6.15 Capla Gilda - Draw is the only concern but may ensure a half decent price. Clear on the ratings and Archie Watson knows how to place his horses in races like this.

6.45 Danehill Desert - Inconsistent, but looks nicely treated and due a win in this grade. Worth another shot on the all weather.
