Steve Mullen guides you through Wednesday's racing at Nottingham, Ludlow, Southwell and Kempton

LUDLOW

2.10

SHUHOOD was a decent performer on the Flat and comes from the yard who won this last season.

The trainer has a good record overall with his juvenile hurdlers and he should know his job well for this debut.

2

Carouse was modest on the level but had some ability and is another who should make a hurdler in time.

2.40

CHILLI FILLI improved steadily last season and ended up holding her own in a Listed race at Cheltenham, despite being sent off at 66-1.

This is closer to the level of the race she won here in December where this trip was ideal.

She won after a break last season so clearly goes well fresh.

Aasleagh Dawn comes over from Ireland with a good chance having been running in stronger races than this.

She looks on a fair mark and is another who should be suited by the trip.

3.10

BEAU DU BRIZAIS has not managed to win over fences yet but has been running well from this mark. He came back from nine months off to run a solid sixth at Stratford last time and should benefit from the outing.

Forever Field went close over timber at Kelso latest and he has cheekpieces on for the first time returning to chasing.

He comes from top connections and should like the trip.

3.40

SUPER SCORPION should be good enough to get the better of his two rivals after a good comeback run at Newton Abbot last week.

He was second there and enjoyed this distance so should be right on the premises again.

Lord Condi has to give 6lb to his main rival and that could make the difference.

He won well at Plumpton last time and there should be more to come.

4.10

SUMKINDOFKING is taking a fair drop in class from the Summer Plate at Market Rasen where he finished a solid fifth despite not getting the run of the race.

This is a more simple assignment at a track where he has run well before. This trip also suits well.

Gustave Mahler has been knocking on the door but has been beaten in similar contests and probably has to settle for second again.

ENABLE VS TREVE Who wins the Battle of the Fillies?

4.40

CAPE CASTER got going a bit too late when fourth at Worcester last time out.

He has been left alone by the handicapper and must go close if throwing down his challenge a little sooner.

Rocket Ronnie looks the obvious danger after battling well to win at Newton Abbot last time.

A 5lb rise in the weights give him a chance of following up.

5.15

Richard Johnson is a good booking aboard RUBY TIGER who has shown promise on her two bumper runs so far.

She started with a fairly distant third at Carlisle before a much better second here last time.

A repeat of that would probably be good enough and she looks capable of improvement.

Miss Heritage has a winner's penalty but sets a good standard and will be a threat if fit on this comeback.
