Best horse racing tips: Sun Racing’s top picks for today’s racing at Windsor, Pontefract, Stratford and Kempton

WITH the thrill of Arc weekend over and done with for another year, it’s back to the normal grind.

The Sun Racing team have been studying the form and picked out their best bets and each-way picks for all of Monday’s cards.

Windsor

Best bet

3.30 Protected Guest – Going from strength to strength under jockey Jane Elliott and made it two on the bounce at Yarmouth last time. That was in a Class 2  so this drop in grade will be welcomed and he can progress again.

Each-way

4.00 Secret Return – Looked the winner for most of the race last time out at Goodwood until getting a bit tired in the ground. Should find things easier under better conditions and again gets services of Jamie Spencer in the saddle.

Pontefract

Best bet

4.10 Edgar Allan Poe – Won quite impressively for the grade last time out and is one of the few in the race in any sort of form. Drops back slightly in trip so don’t be surprised to see him go forward and can defy a rise in the weights.

Each-way

4.45 Glorious Poet – Third last time out was a step in the right direction and it again demonstrates he is at his best on soft ground. Still has mileage in his mark and Silvestre De Sousa takes the ride.

Stratford

Best bet

2.50 Jenkins – Takes on a similar rated hurdler in Bags Groove, and that one has already had the benefit of chasing experience. However, Nicky Henderson’s contender is a scopey sort and fences could be the making of him.

Each-way

3.20 Vive Le Roi – Obviously has a fair bit to find on ratings but gets chunks of weight and did it very easily in a seller at the track last time. Needs an easy lead but could surprise a few.

Kempton

Best bet

6.45 Mawsool – Two starts in maidens have brought with them two good third-placed finishes and this looks a weaker contest. Still has plenty of room for improvement and could well get off the mark here.

Each-way

7.45 Fayez – Coming from behind at Chelmsford can be a very tricky task but he did it very well last time out, just getting up in the final strides. Only up 2lb for that and can hit the target once again.
