Free horse racing tips for today: Bangor, Nottingham, Salisbury and Newcastle – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for Wednesday, October 3
BANGOR ON DEE
2.20
SKIN DEEP looks the one to beat after scoring a shade more cosily than the half-length winning margin suggests at Worcester last time out.
He saw out a similar trip well there and looks open to lots of improvement over hurdles.
Shazzamataz has shaped decently enough in two handicaps since winning a novice event at Kempton. She came back from two months last time so should be fitter now.
2.55
CLEARLY CAPABLE has been knocking on the door with good seconds at Newton Abbot on his past two outings.
They were over hurdles but he had bits and pieces of form over fences in Ireland and he’s had a wind operation since his most recent outing. This trip should suit and he looks on a fair enough mark.
Shininstar was a fair way back in third here last time but this looks slightly easier and he could hit the frame again.

MYTHICAL PRINCE has been doing well enough in bumpers particularly last season with a couple of seconds.
He looked in need of the run for new connections after more than a year off when third at Stratford. He was well backed there and should make a nice hurdler.
Val Mome got in a bit of a pickle with some iffy jumps at Uttoxeter last time but did well with two placed efforts here before that and has more to offer.
4.00
I’M ALWAYS TRYING has been slightly below par on his past two hurdles runs but he has the scope for chasing and should do a lot better in this code.
He has a convincing win at Fontwell to his name over timber and anything like that level of form should be good enough as he makes his chase debut in a handicap.
Masterofdeception showed promise on his chase debut way back in June 2017 and has had just one run since, over hurdles at Worcester in August. He was entitled to need that and should be a lot fitter today.

FIELDS OF FORTUNE already looks a better hurdler than Flat performer after his convincing enough win at Market Rasen in August.
He’s since had a modest enough spin on the level but that means he’ll be fit to perform here. He steps into handicap company but his opening mark looks fair enough.
Quids In has moved to Donald McCain’s yard and is worth watching in the betting on this first run since May.
5.05
A chance is taken on BEAU SANCY in this open chase. He has some decent form in the book, albeit it from a while ago.
The reason he has hope here is that he’s had a breathing operation and has moved yards since his last run. He is on a good mark if finding anything like his best form and this isn’t the strongest of contests.
Grow Nasa Grow won well at Market Rasen last time and has a 3lb rise in the weights to contend with. That gives him a chance of following up under a 5lb claimer.
