Grand National hero One For Arthur nearing a return from injury
Lucinda Russell's nine-year-old has been out with a tendon injury since winning at Aintree in 2017
GRAND NATIONAL hero One For Arthur is nearing a return to the track.
The nine-year-old has been on the sidelines with a tendon injury since winning the Aintree showpiece in 2017.
Trainer Lucinda Russell revealed that the gelding is steadily being prepared for a reappearance in either November or December.
Russell will choose from either the Betfair Chase on 24 November, the Ladbrokes Trophy on 1 December or the Becher Chase on 8 December as his comeback race.
The Kinross-based handler has been pleased with One For Arthur's progress.
Russell said: "He's started cantering and we're really pleased with him.
"He's done a lot of pre-training and been on the treadmill a lot.
"It's so nice to have him back in the string, to turn round and see his face coming up behind me. It's perfect.
"There are a few races he can run in at the end of November time.
"I haven't exactly decided which one."
