Dunkerron aiming to bounce back in the Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket
Alan King's classy two-year-old was found to be ill after his Solario Stakes flop
ALAN KING is confident that Dunkerron can bounce back to form at Newmarket on Thursday.
The classy colt flopped in the Solario Stakes earlier this month but is aiming for a first Group win in the Tattersalls Stakes.
He was found to be sick after his disappointing effort in the Solario, where he finished a well-beaten sixth.
The son of Aussie stallion Kuroshio has previously run a good second to Dark Vision in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes.
The gelding appears to be over his illness and he is expected to run well in the £50,000 Group 3.
King said: "I would like to think that if Dunkerron comes back to his best, he will go very close.
"He was very disappointing in the Solario Stakes and was quite sick with a bad scope the following week.
"He gave no indication that anything was ailing him before that run, but a lot of my two-year-old's were not quite right for a brief period.
"He would definitely be the best two-year-old that I have trained.
"It is quite special since he was bred at Barbury Castle Stud by my good mate, Nigel Bunter, who still has the mare."
