Best horse racing tips: Sun Racing’s top picks for today’s racing at Ayr, Yarmouth, Pontefract and Chelmsford

Don't miss out on Sun Racing's best bet and each-way shot at all of today's meetings

THURSDAY brings with it four meetings, including the start of the three-day Ayr Gold Cup festival.

We've had our heads in the formbook and picked out our best bets across the day.

1

Ayr

Best bet

3.35 Aspetar - Ran out a taking winner of a Listed race at Goodwood earlier in the season and things didn't go his way in a Group 2 last time. Easy ground will suit and he is open to plenty of progress.

Each-way

4.45 Sahreej - Off for nearly a year but returns on a very attractive mark. Handles slow ground and expected to run well for shrewd trainer.

Pontefract

Best bet

3.45 Gorgeous Noora - Plenty of smart form this season for Luca Cumani. Beaten just a neck by the re-opposing Zip Along two starts ago but meets that rival on better terms today.

Each-way

3.15 Daawy - Down the field at York last time but things didn't go his way on that occasion. This looks an easier race and trainer Roger Fell has had success with similar types.

Yarmouth

Best bet

3.25 Magellan - Registered easy back-to-back wins at Kempton before a good fourth at Haydock last time. Slow ground wasn't ideal that day so return to a faster surface here is a big plus.

Each-way

5.10 Nobleman's Nest - Looked a smart horse in the making last year but hasn't really gone on as expected this term. Has been gelded and had a wind op, so every chance he will run a big race.

Chelmsford

Best bet

7.15 Restive Spirit - Won with a bit to spare in a good race at Ripon on his latest outing. Only gone up 2lb and he has had just five starts, so there should be more to come.

Each-way

8.15 Satchville Flyer - Ran a decent race to finish a close fourth in a Class 4 at Ffos Last last time out. Eased in class and has a good draw from which to attack.
