We narrow down the field to help you pick the winner of the Group 1 contest live on ITV this Saturday at Doncaster racecourse
3.35 DONCASTER: St Leger Stakes
START with a simple trend and get rid of any horses that were not in the first three last time out.
That means the end for Nelson, Southern France, The Pentagon and Zabriskie.
A win at Group level has also been important so Dee Ex Bee, Proschema and Raymond Tusk must go.
It should also spell the end for Lah Ti Dar but she did win a Listed race by 10 lengths last time and has never been tried in Group company.
So it seems a false move to cross her out on that score.
LATEST IN HORSE RACING
Maid Up is crossed out because her official rating of 105 is too low for a St Leger winner.
There’s a pretty strong trend that says you want to be fresh coming into the race and had no more than five runs earlier in the season.
That is a negative for Kew Gardens and Old Persian who have both had too many trips to the track.
So we are left with Loxley and LAH TI DAR to choose from.
We’ll go for the latter largely thanks to John Gosden’s record in the race, which he has won four times.
