HEROINE'S RETURN

Enable set for mouthwatering match with Crystal Ocean in September Stakes sizzler

ENABLE could be set for a bigger test than connections might have anticipated in the September Stakes on Saturday.

Last year's Arc heroine is on track for a clash with Hardwicke Stakes winner Crystal Ocean in the Group 3 contest.

Despite the Kempton feature not attracting enough entries at the five-day stage, the race is now brimming with talent after it was reopened on Monday afternoon.

Topping the bill is last year's star three-year-old Enablewho won the Arc, the Oaks, the Yorkshire Oaks and the King George in a season to remember.

Injury has stopped her from taking to the track so far this term, but connections are reported to have got her back to something like her best, and she is a general 5-1 shot to win her second Arc next month.

However, she'll need to return to her top level on Saturday if she takes on fellow entrant Crystal Ocean.

Sir Michael Stoute's middle-distance powerhouse has gone from strength to strength this season, winning the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot with ease, before just losing out to Poet's Word in the King George.

If reproducing that form on Kempton's polytrack then he'll set a very exacting standard - and one that should reveal plenty about the current well-being of John Gosden's star filly.

Others in the contest capable of posing a problem to the front two include Andre Fabre's Finche, who won a Group 3 last time out, and Game Starter, Godolphin's unexposed four-year-old who produced a nice comeback at Windsor last month.
