Free horse racing tips for TODAY: Epsom, Ripon, Chepstow, Cartmel and Southwell – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for Monday, August 27
EPSOM
1.55
INDIAN VICEROY improved when winning with plenty in hand at Newmarket last time and has improved a bundle since stepping up to 7f. He handled Goodwood well when second earlier this month so Epsom’s quirks shouldn’t be a problem. Water Diviner was third at Windsor last time and looks the danger.
2.30
QUICK RECOVERY enjoyed herself at Lingfield last time, winning more impressively than the half-length winning margin suggests. She has a 7lb rise in the weights to contend with but looks capable of better and this track should be fine. Charming Guest can be a little hit and miss but is coming down the weights and enjoyed this sort of trip when winning at Bath in June.

Returning to Epsom can work wonders for PETTOCHSIDE who was second in the Dash here on Derby day. Since then he has run below par a couple of times at Goodwood but the most recent of those efforts was in the Stewards’ Cup. This should be much more up his street. Blue De Vega is just 3lb higher than when winning over this trip at Ascot last month, which gives him every chance.

C’EST NO MOUR won this 12 months ago and comes here off the same mark under a leading amateur rider. That should be enough for another bold bid, especially as this will have been his target for a while. Medalla De Oro has been in good form and was beaten a neck at Haydock last time. He sees out this distance well and a repeat of that last run would make him a big threat.
4.15
WILLIE JOHN was impressive when winning at Doncaster having already scored on debut at Yarmouth last October. The step up to this distance worked wonders and there should be a lot more to come. Sovereign Debt did well to win a Listed contest at York last time and has winning form around here. The longer trip is a slight concern but he should be competitive.
4.50
BATHSHEBA BAY finished strongly to win at Windsor last time when this trip suited well. A 2lb rise in the weights for that seems fair enough and, as a three-year-old, there should be more to come. The Emperor Within has been knocking at the door with seconds at Yarmouth and then Windsor last time. His win came over a mile at Brighton but this longer distance should suit.
5.25
DUKE OF NORTH has won on his past two runs over this course and distance and that counts for plenty at Epsom. He didn’t enjoy dropping back to 7f when fifth at Sandown last time and this trip will suit much better. Cuban Heel is another who has gone close here before and was half a length off the pace at Windsor last time.
