Frankie Dettori at the double with Gimcrack win on the exciting Emaraaty Ana
Frankie had earlier guided Stradivarius to a victory in the Lonsdale Cup at York
FRANKIE DETTORI bagged a big-race double at York on Friday.
The Italian produced a brilliant ride aboard Emaraaty Ana to win the Gimcrack Stakes just 35 minutes after winning a huge bonus on Stradivarius.
Dettori picked up the ride aboard Kevin Ryan's exciting colt with booked jockey Jamie Spencer unwell.
The son of Shamardal was quickly away and sent into the lead at an early stage by Dettori.
The horse was still full of running approaching the final furlong and fought on bravely to fend off the late challenge of Legends Of War at odds of 5-1.
The well-backed 9-4 favourite Shine So Bright was back in third place.
The result gave Yorkshire-based Ryan his fourth win in the Group 2 Gimcrack.
He said: "It's great to win it again, that's four times now.
"He's always been very good, he won first time but then I was a little disappointed at Newbury when the ground was a bit loose.
"He's still immature, but will definitely get further. Frankie just said not to over-race him this year, as he'll make a lovely three-year-old.
