Friday’s racing tips: Three longshots to fill your pockets at York

Don't miss out on these each-way bets for Friday, August 24

DAY 3 of the York Ebor Festival brings together the top five furlong sprinters for the Nunthorpe - and this year's race is a belter.

The Gimcrack and the Londsale Cup are other fantastic contests - and here are some of the best longshots on the card.

1.55 York - Never Surrender

Had been in the doldrums prior to bouncing back when dropped in class at Epsom last time.

He was a convincing winner that day, and although this is considerably more competitive, he was rated higher than his current mark last year.

Charlie Hills has his string in very good form and has already had a winner this week.

He gets in off a very low weight and can follow up.

3.00 York - Showout

After winning a mickey mouse race at Brighton last time out, Archie Watson said that Showout was his best two-year-old of the season.

That's some advertisement for his ability, and although jockey Hollie Doyle can't claim in this Group race, she has shown she is a top class jockey on plenty of occasions this season.

He's thoroughly unexposed and could surprise a few.

3.35 York - Mabs Cross

The Nunthorpe is likely to be run at a breakneck pace as usual, and Battaash is a red-hot favourite - but could be worth taking on.

Mabs Cross was slightly disappointing last time out in Ireland, but unlike others in the race, she will love the fast pace from those up front.

Expect her to fly late, and on her form of earlier this season, she has a big shout of a place at least.

Michael Dods knows what it takes to win this race, and she can take advantage of a 3lb weight allowance.
