Laurens in the form of her life as Karl Burke’s star filly heads to the Yorkshire Oaks

The three-time Group 1 winner has won five of her seven racecourse outings

THE Yorkshire Oaks may be missing a star in Enable but it has gained one with the confirmation of Laurens ahead of Thursday's Group 1 on the Knavesmire.

And trainer Karl Burke is delighted with her progress and work at home as she bids for a Group 1 hattrick.

Burke believes Laurens is in the form of her life ahead of her bid for glory, as she meets her elders for the first time.

The daughter of Siyouni steps up to a mile and a half for the first time as well, but Burke is not worried heading into the race.

The trainer said: "She had her final piece of work this morning and she went as well as I've seen her, to be honest.

"We're very happy with her. She'll have a pipe-opener on Tuesday and that will be it. We're looking forward to the race."

Laurens was one of 11 fillies left in the Yorkshire Oaks at Thursday's confirmation stage.

Her potential rivals include the William Haggas-trained Irish Oaks heroine Sea Of Class, although connections will be keeping a close eye on ground conditions.

Haggas' wife and assistant trainer, Maureen said: "The intention is to go to York, but it depends on the ground and if they get rain. We want to keep her on top of the ground.

"The great thing about York is since they have done the drains, it drains well, whereas it never used to."

Aidan O'Brien has left in Bye Bye Baby, Flattering, Forever Together and Magic Wand, while Dermot Weld's Eziyra is another possible Irish raider.

John Gosden's Coronet, the Charlie Fellowes-trained Crimson Rosette, Andrew Balding's Horseplay and the German entrant Night Music complete the list of possible runners.
