AGENT PROVOCATEUR

Deauville date for Queen Anne Stakes hero Accidental Agent

Eve Johnston Houghton's Group 1 winner will head to France for the Prix Jacques le Marois

ROYAL ASCOT revelation Accidental Agent will have a crack at further riches when he lines up in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville on August 8.

The four-year-old was having only his second start in Group 1 company when producing a 33-1 shock in the Queen Anne Stakes last month.

Taking on proven top level performers including Rhododendron, Lightning Spear and Benbatl, the son of Delegator demonstrated that he was more than worthy of inclusion, storming down the middle of the track to run out a convincing winner.

To many the win came as a surprise, but not to trainer Eve Johnson Houghton, who afterwards mapped out a plan culminating in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes back at Ascot in October.

First, though, a trip across the channel to Deauville is on the cards for the prestigious Prix Jacques le Marois.

With British raiders Ribchester, Kingman and Excelebration all victorious in the race in recent years, Accidental Agent would be following in some illustrious hoofsteps.

His trainer said: "We're going to go straight to the Jacques le Marois now".

"He's not really ground dependent so that's got nothing to do with it, I just thought I'd give him a little bit more time. If he'd run this weekend it would have been just over three weeks (since Royal Ascot).

"Everything has been fine since the Queen Anne."
