Haydock

AIRMAX ran well on his handicap debut at Windsor last time.
That was over a similar trip and he saw it out well to finish a close second. He has been raised just 1lb despite that encouraging effort and trainer Ralph Beckett won this race 12 months ago so knows what sort of horse is required.

ANGEL’S HIDEAWAY gets the nod in a race where all three of the fillies with racecourse experience have shown promise. The selection was third over this distance at Newmarket on debut last time and gave the impression that there was more to come. The ground was on the fast side then too and John Gosden’s horses are in good nick. Both Laxmi and Summer Blossom also went well on their debut runs last time and are dangers.

SOLDIER’S CALL went close to winning on debut at Lingfield last time when a close second over this distance on similar ground. The third horse home was a good way back and she travelled like a certain future winner.

PACO ESCOSTAR was unlucky on her seasonal comeback at Carlisle last time out. She finished fourth, less than two lengths off the pace but it could have been a lot closer but for meeting trouble in running. She should be fitter for the experience and has every chance over the same trip on similar ground.

BASHIBA has come nicely down the weights and there were some positive signs at Redcar last time when he was an unlucky fourth after being short of room. He goes on fast ground and this trip suits well. He would go close if anywhere near his best.

MYSTIC FLIGHT was unfancied for his debut at Newbury last month before putting up an impressive display to win going away. That was over this distance on fast ground and he looked a classy performer with the way he quickened up. This race doesn’t look any tougher and he’s capable of defying a penalty.

MAGHFOOR used to be with Godolphin and showed some promise on his second start for Eric Alston when fifth at Chester last time. He sees out this trip well and landed his sole win here in a maiden. He is coming down the weights and should go close in what looks a weak finale.
