John Gosden’s Arc heroine Enable suffers injury setback ruling her out of action until August

TOP-CLASS Enable has suffered a setback which has ruled her out of action until at least August.

John Gosden's brilliant filly was the star of last season, winning five Group 1 races including the Oaks and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

She has not been seen since winning at Chantilly last October, but had been due to make her reappearance in the Coronation Cup at Epsom next month.

However, those plans have been scrapped and she will not run in the first part of the season.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah, told Press Association Sport: "Enable has met with a setback in training.

Grimthorpe added: "The advice that we have is, that given reasonable circumstances, she should be ready to run in August as a preparation for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe."

Enable captured the hearts of racegoers last year as she went on a brilliant winning run despite being beaten on her seasonal reappearance.

The filly won the Cheshire Oaks before going on to win the Oaks at Epsom in June. She then added the Irish Oaks to her CV in one of her most devastating performances to date.
