Lingfield, Newcastle and Bath come under the spotlight as Templegate gives you his best bets for the day.

STAR ARCHER should hit the bullseye in the Betway Easter Classic (4.40).
His trainer Hugo Palmer looks in for a very Good Friday on Lingfield’s cash-rich card and my fancy should be a tasty price after circumstances conspired again him when trying to complete a hat-trick of wins at Kempton.

FUNNY KID should have the last laugh.
This French raider is unexposed over staying distances. He won over 1m4f last summer and ran a cracker when beaten just a neck by determined Watersmeet at Wolverhampton.
The winner has gone in again twice since and today’s track gives Funny Kid hope of revenge.
Mark Johnston’s Watersmeet must have a good chance. He easily won over today’s course and distance before completing a hat-trick of wins with an impressive Kempton defeat of Curbyourenthusiasm and Lord George.

LUCYMAI should pay.
She rattled off a hat-trick in the winter despite not having much luck with the draw. A high stall was finally her downfall when only fifth behind Carolinae at Kempton last month. A better draw gives her a great chance for in-form trainer Dean Ivory.
Although Carolinae won over today’s trip at Kempton she is really better over a mile. She also likes to come from off the pace so the rails draw might be a hindrance not a help.
Summer Icon chased home smart Second Thought in a Listed race at Wolverhampton three weeks ago. A fast-run seven furlongs is ideal for her.

Grab yourself an Easter gift.
GIFTED MASTER is a class sprinter as his brace of Group 3 wins shows. He was in good form last year and he booked his spot for today with a smooth Listed success over today’s course and distance in November.
He’s won off the back of a break in the past and this has surely been the plan for a good while.
Gracious John has won over this trip but there’s little doubt he’s better over five furlongs.
Kachy was runner-up in a Group 1 earlier in his career and he arrives at the top of his game after two victories over track and trip. It’s hard to see how he won’t run well but Athletico cannot be fancied as he continues to fluff the start.

NEVER BACK DOWN is some decent advice.
Some of his early-season form last year was good. It included a debut second behind subsequent Royal Ascot winner Sound And Silence and his efforts in Listed races in the autumn were no disgrace.
There’s no doubt his Wolverhampton victory in December when Corinthia Knight was back in third was his best yet. The fast pace set up for him but it was still a fine performance considering he was hampered at various stages.
That was only Corinthia Knight’s second all-weather defeat in eight starts. He landed a Listed race at Chantilly last time and he looks sure to go well.

Have a SECOND THOUGHT in the Mile.
William Haggas’ ace is unbeaten in six all-weather races. Most of those wins came over shorter but he looked in need of this trip when storming home from the rear over seven furlongs in a Wolverhampton Listed contest three weeks ago. He’s a class ace on this surface.
Goring has been a revelation since switching to sand and going up in distance. He’s won four course-and-distance handicaps this winter and has to be considered in this sort of form.
Arcanada is another in top nick, while Captain Joy – winner of this race two years ago – won his first race since when scoring at Dundalk in January.

Take aim with STAR ARCHER.
Hugo Palmer’s hope is worst off at the weights but that doesn’t stop me wanting to take a chance on him.
He’s only had seven races and he returned from 15 months off the track with a couple of wins at Wolverhampton. It’s not hard to forgive his odds-on defeat at Kempton last time as he was held up last in a race run at a steady pace. This should pan out much better.
Master The World rightly got the Winter Derby in the stewards room after being hampered by Mr Owen. He’d beaten Victory Bond – again over today’s course and distance – in November and looks the standard setter.

Turn to OUTSIDE INSIDE. She had some promising form when trained in Ireland and makes her debut for Mark Johnston.
Her pedigree screams all-weather and there’s every chance she will be better than this grade.
Sir Reginald Brown and Tadaawol head the dangers.
3.20
Lay down the Law.
LEXINGTON LAW is unbeaten in two Flat starts when wearing cheekpieces. Both of those races were on the all-weather and last month’s defeat of Royal Reserve came over today’s track and trip.
That form ties in closely with Island Brave and it gives Alan King’s hope a solid chance.
Stablemate Cosmeapolitan won well at Kempton over 1m3f last month but he often promises more than he delivers.
3.55
NYALETI has the form to down Kentucky Derby hope Gronkowski.
She came up short in Group 1 races last season but couldn’t have gone much closer to winning at Group 2 level. Mark Johnston’s ace was placed behind top fillies Clemmie and Laurens and the switch to the all-weather should not be a problem.
Gronkowski has been impressive in rattling up an all-weather hat-trick. He did well to win last time and is the obvious danger. Purser can’t be ruled out but he might be better over further this year.
