LINCOLN WARNING

Lincoln favourite Lord Glitters not a certain runner

Trainer David O'Meara won the race last year with Bravery but has warned that ante-post favourite Lord Glitters is far from certain to run in the Lincoln on Saturday.

LORD GLITTERS is far from certain to run in the 32Red Lincoln at Doncaster on Saturday, according to his trainer David O'Meara.

O'Meara struck in the high-profile handicap last year with Bravery but has warned that his ante-post favourite, who won the Balmoral Handicap on Champions Day at Ascot and is as short as 6-1 for the traditional Flat season curtain-raiser, may not run at Doncaster.

He said: "We're still undecided whether we're going to run him or not. If it's very soft or even heavy we might have a rethink. He's going to have near on top-weight and I'm just not sure yet.

"I've put him in the Listed race (Doncaster Mile) as an alternative. He worked this morning and we're very happy with him.

"He does go on soft ground. It's just giving away a lot of weight on soft ground on his first run of the season might be a slight concern.

"We'd hope that he'd have some nice targets later on and I don't want to completely bottom him for his first run.

O'Meara won the Lincoln for the first time with Bravery 12 months ago, but may not be represented in this year's renewal.

He told At The Races: "Bravery won't get in this year. The only other horse of mine that may get in might be Escobar, who we bought in October.
