Nicky Henderson to saddle five runners in Saturday’s valuable Betfair Hurdle at Newbury racecourse
Henderson is set to saddle five runners in the £100,000 race at Newbury this weekend and reckons all five go there with a good chance
NICKY HENDERSON is preparing for another chapter of Five Go Mad in Newbury.
The champ will have more than a fifth of the field for Saturday's Betfair Hurdle as he attempts to win Britain's richest handicap hurdle for a record sixth time.
He intends to run Jenkins, Kayf Grace, Lough Derg Spirit, Verdana Blue and Charli Parcs in the £100,000 race.
He said: "They're all in good form. The blinkers seem to have made the difference to Jenkins. He was very keen at Ascot over 2m3f but it didn't stop him coming home well to win. I was very impressed.
"Kayf Grace has a great chance. I like Lough Derg Spirit as well, he ran a very good race in the Elite Hurdle. This has always been his objective.
"The ground is important to Charli Parcs. It might be a worry if we got snow and very soft ground but his work is excellent.
"Verdana Blue has good pace. She'll travel very well and she doesn't want to get there too soon."She's a very slick jumper."
