Nicky Henderson’s Might Bite wins the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day at Kempton racecourse
Nicky Henderson's chaser held off the late challenges of Double Shuffle and Tea For Two to triumph in the Grade 1 contest
MIGHT BITE showed none of his quirks as he held off his late challengers to win the 32Red King George VI Chase at Kempton.
Nico de Boinville sent Might Bite into the lead as they rounded the home turn and he had plenty left in the tank despite Double Shuffle and Tea For Two finishing strongly.
Bristol De Mai had been prominent throughout the race but weakened when it got to the business end.
Winning jockey de Boinville said: "He was fantastic. On a horse that jumps as well as him you can't keep taking him back.
"Bristol De Mai was just making a few mistakes and I was jumping into the lead, so instead of taking a pull I let him go and enjoy it.
Henderson added: "He was great, wasn't he?
"He jumped beautifully all the way and he enjoys doing that - he's so exuberant.
"He has so much presence and charisma. You can't help but love him as he's gorgeous.
"He loves to show off, and that's what he was doing most of the way."
