Horse racing tips: Kempton, Huntingdon, Sedgefield, Wetherby, Market Rasen, Wolverhampton, Fontwell and Wincanton – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for Tuesday, December 26

Steve Mullen's gives you his tips for Tuesday's meetings at Kempton, Huntingdon, Sedgefield, Wetherby, Market Rasen, Wolverhampton, Fontwell and Wincanton

Whisper

WHISPER has a big shout in the King George VI Chase at Kempton (3.05).

Nicky Henderson has an excellent record in this race and has the jolly in Might Bite.

It’s right that he’s at the head of the betting after winning his comeback race at Sandown last month.

Yet Whisper is no forlorn hope at a much bigger price.

He chased home his more illustrious stablemate a couple of times last season but there are reasons to think he’s catching up with Might Bite.

The biggest hint came at Newbury last time where he almost carted a big weight to win the Hennessy.

Rising star Total Recall needed every ounce of the stone he was getting from Henderson’s ace — and there was only a neck in it crossing the line.

Of course this is a hotter contest than that prestigious handicap and that’s why you might get a double-figure price about him this morning.

The road to Cheltenham starts HERE.

Bet £10 or more at any of the races at and Sun Bets will give you a £2 free bet to use at the Cheltenham Festival.

But plenty of shrewd judges are talking up his Cheltenham Gold Cup chances and we know he stays and likes Kempton, which is a big plus.

Despite being nine, Whisper has few chasing miles on the clock and looks to have taken a step forward with that Hennessy effort.

Might Bite deserves his place at the head of the betting but he will find this tougher than Sandown and he hit the deck on this day 12 months ago in the big novices’ contest on the card.

That was one of the more memorable moments of last season as he was 18 lengths up when clouting the final fence. He’s not put a foot wrong since then.

Bristol De Mai warrants respect after hammering Cue Card at Haydock last time. He likes to go from the front though as does Thistlecrack and there’s a chance they will burn eachother out.

Mick Channon doesn’t have many chasers but he has done well with MISTER WHITAKER who can take Kempton’s 1.20.

He showed his battling qualities when winning well at Carlisle last time, setting a personal best on his handicap debut.

Carlisle takes some getting so he won’t mind if there’s a strong pace on because there will be plenty left in the tank.

Theo’s Charm looks a danger after showing his best for a long time behind Sam Spinner at Haydock last time.

That was over hurdles and might have sharpened him up nicely for this return to chasing.

MIA’S STORM can give the bookies a mare by taking the 1.55.

She looks a star in the making after landing a hat-trick of wins in style at Market Rasen last time out.

Alan King’s star was never off the bridle in that Listed contest to win by an easy 13 lengths.

This trip holds no fears and she has the high cruising speed you need for Kempton. The right-handed track is fine too and she can give the boys a beating on just her third chasing assignment.

Steve Mullen's top Boxing Day tips

1.20 Kempton - Mister Whitaker

1.55 Kempton - Mia's Storm

2.10 Wetherby - Aloomomo

3.05 Kempton - Whisper

Black Corton was just beaten by Elegant Escape at Newbury last time and there won’t be a lot between them again. The latter may be open to the most improvement of the pair.

ALOOMOMO goes back over fences for Wetherby’s big race at 2.10.

He has had a couple of encouraging spins over hurdles since coming a cropper at Cheltenham this time last year.

Richard Johnson has struck up a partnership with him over timber and they went well at Southwell last time out. He was a solid sixth in the Close Brothers Novice Chase at last year’s Cheltenham Festival and this is just his second chase outing since then.

If any of the ability he showed there remains, he can take this nice prize for in-form trainer Warren Greatrex.
