Horse racing tips: Newbury on ITV4 – Matt Chapman’s top betting preview for Friday, December 1

THERE'S a treat for punters before the weekend Friday with four races from Newbury live on ITV - and I'll be there freezing my wotsits off so I hope you tune in!

The 1.50pm is a Grade 2 novice chase over nearly 2m4f, and it's a cracker between Yanworth and WILLOUGHBY COURT.

The latter might need the run, but in my book is more likely to be a natural chaser than Yanworth and did really well to beat Neon Wolf at Cheltenham. It should be a cracker.

A smallish field for the 2.25pm, a handicap chase over nearly 2m4f.

I like top-weight O O SEVEN for Nicky Henderson in the hope he has a license to thrill.

He wasn't always at his best as a novice, but he mixed it with the best and is a classy type. He might be good enough on ideal ground.

 

The 3.00pm is the Grade 2 Long Distance Hurdle over an extended 3m, and no doubt I want to be with back-from-injury star THISTLECRACK, who gets 6lb from main rival Unowhatimeanharry.

The latter has a fitness edge, but my hope was a better hurdler and gets weight.

If he's anywhere near right he will hack up.

Finally there is eachway betting 1-2-3 in the 3.35pm, a handicap hurdle over an extended 3m.

BENEAGLES is at the right end of the handicap for Alan King, and with a visor on for the first time he might improve a little bit. Hard to keep out the frame.
