Melbourne man, named as Dominic, was filmed by pal after being plucked from bookies' draw to pick the 9-1 winner and trouser a million Aussie dollars
A LUCKY punter scooped a million Aussie dollars as Rekindling romped home in the Melbourne Cup.
The amazing win involved winning a bet in the first four races at the Flemington course - and then being picked at random as part of a promotion from bookies TAB .
If that didn't enough fortune, you then had to pick the winner in Australia's most prestigious race.
The punter, named as Dominic from Melbourne suburb Mill Park, amazingly managed to pull it off.
After netting an each-way win in the third race, he called some mates to watch the main event when he realised he was in with a chance of scooping some serious cash.
Rekindling - priced at 9-1 - just edged out Johannes Vermeer in a nail-biter as Dominic celebrated wildly in his living room, screaming as he sprinted around his sofa to hug his mate.
He told Australia's : “I started the day working so I never could have imagined this.
“I was laying on the couch about to have a few bets when I got the call that I won the draw.
“I was actually home alone so I had to call a few mates who rushed over to watch with me.

“I was just numb. It’s a surreal feeling and I’m still in shock.
“I chose Rekindling because I liked its form overseas and its draw, but I never could have imagined this.”
