BUCKLED didn’t have a lot to beat at Kelso last time but did the job really well and has gone well over this course and distance before. The handicapper has been fair with a 5lb rise in the weights and he won’t be far away again.

MULLAGHMURPHY BLUE comes over from Ireland having gone close on his past two runs over fences. He would have finished close than third at Downpatrick last time but for being hampered in the closing stages. He goes off the same mark here and takes a welcome drop in distance too.

BEYOND THE CLOUDS has a penalty to defy here but looks capable of doing so after scoring well at Kelso latest. He just went from the front on that hurdles debut and was value for further than the official two lengths. He was a winner in two of his three bumper runs and looks to have a bright future.

COOPER’S FRIEND can be a little hit and miss but he ran his best race for a long time when third at Kelso last time. He just tired in the closing stages there over 2m5f and will be happy over this shorter distance. The handicapper has helped too and this looks a weak race.

VERCINGETORIX ran a cracker to finish a close-up second at Carlisle last time and has gone back to the excellent trainer Iain Jardine since. He likes this distance and a repeat of his latest effort would put him in the frame again.

None of these inspire any confidence and it’s worth taking a chance on BLUE KASCADE as he at least boasts winning course and distance form. He tends to be at his best early in the season and has tumbled right down the weights.
