BRIDGE THE GAP

Horse racing tips: Leicester, Worcester, Huntingdon and Kempton – Steve Mullen’s top betting preview for Tuesday, October 17

Steve Mullen guides you through Tuesday's racing from Leicester, Worcester, Huntingdon and Kempton

LEICESTER

2.00

BOMBYX looked pretty green when making his debut in a decent maiden at Newmarket last time out.

He came from a long way off the pace to finish third behind Ghaiyyath who has since franked the form.

He wouldn’t have to improve much to get off the mark.

2.30

OAKLEY PRIDE ran a good third in a similar contest to this last time when the ground was very testing.

She may be happier in these slightly better conditions and a repeat would put her right in the frame.

3.00

CUSTOM CUT has been plying his trade in stronger contests than this without disgracing himself.

He was fifth in a Newmarket Group 2 last time and was beaten in a tight finish to a Listed contest earlier this season. He is on a reasonable mark and has a fair draw.

3.30 – Mullen’s star bet

JUMIRA BRIDGE should have won at Yarmouth last time but left it too late to throw down his challenge. He had to settle for second but can go one better over a trip that suits well.

4.00

The betting will be a good guide to this but OSTILIO is bred to be a star and any support would be telling. Trainer Simon Crisford has a decent record in races like this and has a live chance.

4.30

PURAMENTE finished strongly when second at Kempton last time out and will relish this extra furlong. He goes off the same mark as that decent run and is still on the upgrade.

Steve Mullen's star bet

3.30 Leicester – Jumira Bridge: ‘Should have won last time and can go one better here’ (add to your betslip)

5.00

ZAMPERINI has been knocking on the door and ran a cracker when a tight second at Windsor last time out. Despite that good run, the handicapper has given him a little nudge down the weights.

That could make the difference over a trip that suits.

5.30

MININGROCKS could be under-rated because it was only a seller he won at Redcar last time. But he got the job done really nicely and goes well over this course and distance.

His handicap mark looks workable, especially with a claimer on board.
