Horse racing tips: Bath, Newton Abbot and Stratford – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for Monday, October 2
Steve Mullen guides you through Monday's racing from Bath, Newton Abbot and Stratford.
BATH
2.10
HAYLAH was very keen on her debut at Newbury last time and it was a solid enough effort to finish fifth of the 13 runners. She should have learned plenty from that experience and improvement looks assured.
2.40
SPIRIT OF ROSANNA has not performed at her best lately but she’s tumbling down the weights and get her favourite soft ground here. She’s been given a break since a modest run at Haydock last time and is dropping in class here too.
3.10
MADAME JO JO ran her best race so far when a close-up fourth on her handicap debut at Chepstow last time out. She stayed on well over the 5f trip so this slightly longer distance should help. This isn’t the strongest race and she wouldn’t have to improve much.
3.40
JAGANORY is just 2lb higher in the weights than when winning over course and distance in August. There was some cut in the ground that day so these conditions will be ideal. He’s a good ride for an apprentice and won’t be far away again.
4.10
TIME MEDICEAN doesn’t have the ideal draw but went so well when beating in a bobbing finish here last time out. He likes this trip and some give in the ground is ideal. He’s up just 1lb for his good run so should be competitive again.
4.40
This looks wide open and AIR OF YORK could be the one dropping down the weights despite a good run at Leicester last time out. He was fourth there in testing conditions and won’t mind this drop in distance. His rider’s 7lb claim will come in handy too.
5.10
DELAHAY came back from a break to run with promise on her handicap debut at Salisbury last time out. She would have finished closer than sixth with a clearer run in the closing stages. The handicapper has dropped her 3lb for that which gives her every chance.
5.40
COVE BEACH still looked inexperienced when finishing third at Chepstow last time out. She travelled well before hanging when asked to hit top gear. That’s understandable at this stage of her career and she was coming back from a break in Wales. She likes this trip and soft ground so should be on the premises again.
