Horse racing betting tips: Sandown, Beverley, Yarmouth and Kelso – Steve Mullen’s tips for Wednesday, September 20

Steve Mullen guides you through Wednesday's racing from Sandown, Yarmouth, Beverley and Kelso

YARMOUTH
2.10
The betting will be the best guide to this field of unraced maidens. On paper, IMPERIAL PAST makes plenty of appeal. He comes from a high-class family and trainer Charlie Appleby is in good nick.
2.45
DREAM WARRIOR made a pleasing start to his career when third in testing ground at Ascot last time out. He motored along there before just looking green in the closing stages. You would expect him to take a large step forward from that and he could easily win.
3.15
EMILY GOLDFINCH didn’t fire at Sandown last time but had earlier gone mighty close at Newmarket when beaten in a photo. She shapes as though this trip will be fine and is on a fair enough mark.

TITI MAKFI has improved through the season and was just pipped in a hot handicap at York last time out. That built on a good victory at Newmarket where soft ground suited well. He likes this trip and wouldn’t have to improve much more to take this.
4.25
SWIFTSURE really didn’t take to Goodwood last time but she’s hardly the first horse to suffer from that problem. The step up to an extended 1m3f might have not suited either after a good run at Newmarket and win at Pontefract. This is a trappy race but he could be the answer.
4.55
If ZABEEL PRINCE is fit enough after 83 days off, he will take all the beating from what looks a lowly handicap mark. He was impressive in a couple of maidens, finishing second at Redcar on debut before stepping up well to win at Nottingham. There should be plenty of improvement to come.

  • 5.25 Yarmouth - Dakota Gold: 'Soft ground suits and he looks the one to beat'

5.25
DAKOTA GOLD has hardly put a foot wrong this season with two wins and three seconds from just five outings. He ran another cracker when second at York last time over 6f but he won’t mind this drop back in distance. Soft ground suits and he looks the one to beat.
5.55
EQUITATION won very nicely at Doncaster last time despite not being asked too many questions. He looked green in the closing stages and was value for a bit further than the official margin of a length. You would expect him to build on that first win.
