Racing Tips – Templegate’s top tips for all of ITV’s races from York and Goodwood on Saturday, August 26
York and Goodwood come under the spotlight as Templegate gives you his best bets for the day

THERE’S a Must bet in the Strensall Stakes.
MUSTASHRY flew down the outside to strike at Chelmsford last time. That might have only been an all-weather handicap but he took it in the style of a Group horse.
He was runner-up in a decent handicap at this meeting 12 months ago and his superb turn of pace should put his rivals to the sword.
Mondialiste likes this track. He won this race two years ago and he failed by just a nose in a Group 2 dominated from the front by Success Days at this track last month.
It’s easy to see him going close.
Forest Ranger has twice run well behind top prospect Beat The Bank recently. He might well be suited with the way this race is likely to be run.
Make Time was just in front of Forest Ranger at Goodwood last time but he really needs softer ground.

KEEP a Secret in the Melrose.
SECRET ADVISOR ran useful Eynhallow close at Goodwood in May and he proved his stamina for today’s trip when third behind Stradivarius in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot.
That form looks very good now as the winner followed up in the Goodwood Cup. The soft ground was probably to blame last time and I’m expecting him to bounce back today.
Intellect bolted up a by nine lengths at Newbury last time. He’s hot up the weights but that doesn’t worry me. The faster ground does.
Bin Battuta came through from the rear to win at Ascot over 1m4f last time. He’s clearly useful but I’m not convinced by today’s extra two furlongs.
At bigger prices I like Dark Pearl and Winston C.

TUCK into some Angel delight in the Gimcrack.
FROZEN ANGEL has some good form in the book and he should like today’s sharp track.
There was a lot to like about his fourth in Royal Ascot’s Norfolk Stakes when less than a length behind Cardsharp.
He was far from disgraced in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes and I’m expecting him to race more prominently today.
Cardsharp has leading claims. He forged clear to win the July Stakes and he put in a solid effort on softer ground in the Richmond Stakes at Royal Ascot. His 3lbs penalty does make life tricky.
Richmond runner-up Nebo might need a bit further but Invincible Army is in with a shout.
The testing ground was probably to blame for Headway’s below-par effort at Goodwood and he’s best judged on his neck second in Royal Ascot’s Coventry Stakes.
But that form has not worked out particularly well and I’m happy to take him on.

CAST a spell on the bookies with MAGIC CIRCLE in the Ebor.
He had plenty up his sleeve when winning over two miles on the opening day of this meeting three days ago.
There’s little doubt he is well handicapped with a 4lbs penalty and he’s got in at the bottom of the weights.
They are sure to go a strong gallop with plenty of front-runners in the field and that should set things up nicely for Ralph Beckett’s ace. He looks the trump card in this red-hot handicap.
Dubka was only nailed close home in a fillies’ Group 3 last time. She looks primed to go close.
Seamour – fifth in this race 12 months ago – is a pound lower in the weights this time.
He ran well when third behind Dal Harraild at this course in May and he should be spot on after just two runs this season.
Both those horses have copped wide stalls. But nine of the last ten winners of this race came from a high draw so it might even be a help.
Natural Scenery and Scarlet Dragon are others on my shortlist.

VERANDAH should have a moment in the sun in the Prestige Stakes.
She looked really smart when making a winning debut at Kempton a couple of weeks ago. After missing the break she was forced to race in the rear in the early stages.
When she made her move with two furlongs to run the race was over in a matter of strides.
Her half-sister Spacious was placed in a stack of Group 1s so it’s not hard to imagine she might be up to this level.
Quivery is unbeaten in two starts. She’s got a decent turn of foot and it was a good effort to give 7lbs away at Newmarket last time. There’s little doubt she is worth a shot at a race like this.
Billesdon Brook did well to overcome all sorts of traffic problems to land a nursery over today’s course and distance last time. She’s clearly useful but this is a fair step up in class.
Ertiyad and Peace Trail are others to keep an eye on.

BANG into MASHAM STAR.
He’s had a busy season and had an off day behind Bertiewhittle at Doncaster last week. But his earlier form gives him a right chance.
He did well to finish sixth in the valuable Betfred Mile at Glorious Goodwood considering he had to work hard early from a wide draw.
His middle stall should help him get over on the front end and he should give it a good shot at holding on.
Sutter County – also trained by Mark Johnston – is a danger. He won over today’s track ad trip in May and is back on the same handicap mark.
Ultimate Avenue has an obvious chance. His third at Newmarket’s July Meeting came in what is usually one of the hottest sprint handicaps for three-year-olds of the season.
The step up to seven furlongs won’t be a problem but his inexperience might.
Johnny Barnes ran a cracker when fourth in a similar race at Ascot last time. He should go well again but is hardly well handicapped.

THEY say Lightning never strikes twice. I reckon those old wives are wrong.
LIGHTNING SPEAR beat Zonderland to lift this prize 12 months ago and he’s clearly the one to beat again. He’s been mixing it with the best this season.
He chased home Ribchester in the Lockinge earlier in the season and his third behind shock winner Here Comes When in the Sussex Stakes was also a top effort.
That came on testing ground. While he handles it these days he’s still better on a faster surface.
Zonderland hasn’t been seen since his second in this last year. If he’s ready to roll he could fill the same place again.
Hathal is probably his main threat to that target.
