NEBO CAN BE A HERO

Glorious Goodwood tips – Templegate’s racing tips for all of ITV’s races at Goodwood on Thursday, August 3

Day three of Glorious Goodwood comes under the spotlight as Templegate tries to find a host of winners at the Sussex track

HIT the Front in the opener.

FRONTISPIECE lost his unbeaten record when third behind Architype at Sandown last month.

But the winner was allowed to dominate the small field from the front and that gave my fancy an impossible task from off the pace.

I'm expecting it to be a different story today and his pedigree suggests he could even improve on the much softer ground.

Good Omen is another who will like the testing conditions. The ground was too quick for him at Royal Ascot but he bounced back to form at Yarmouth last time.

Addeybb has obvious claims. He showed a decent attitude to strike on his handicap debut at Ascot last time and the step up from a mile could easily keep him in front of the handicapper.

Godolphin pair Leader's Legacy and Mutarabby - runner-up to Addeybb in a Haydock maiden - are both in with a shout.

IT'S time for some Endless love.
I can't resist the charms of ENDLESS TIME in the Lillie Langtry.

She found the ground too quick and the competition too hot when well held in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot but her previous form gives her a great chance against her own sex.

She was beaten less than a length when fourth behind Dartmouth in the Yorkshire Cup and she landed a Haydock Group 2 early last season.

The cheekpieces she wears for the first time should help revive her spark.

Melodic Motion is a big threat. She has progressed rapidly this season and the step up to 1m6f could easily bring about more improvement.

Dubka and Dawn Horizons look best of those at bigger odds.

NEBO should be the Richmond Stakes hero.

Charlie Hills' hope beat a stack of subsequent winners when scoring at Newbury on his debut. The ground was soft that day so today's conditions shouldn't be a bother.

He didn't have the best of draws in the Coventry at Royal Ascot and he bounced back to form when beaten just a neck by Gustav Klimt in a Newmarket Group 2 last time.

That flatters him slightly as the winner got a dreadful passage and it was over seven furlongs. But that proven stamina should come in handy with the ground being so testing.

Invincible Army was only fourth behind behind Cardsharp in the July Stakes at Newmarket. But he never stopped trying and there's reasons to think the softer ground will help.

US Navy Flag - runner-up in the July Stakes - won't like the wet weather. Cardsharp should handle it but the 3lbs penalty he carries makes life tricky.

Headway is another who has big ground worries. His dad Havana Gold has had just one winner from 19 runners on going with soft in the description.

WRAP up for WINTER in the Qatar Nassau Stakes.

This star filly has been superb since joining Aidan O'Brien. She was impressive when winning the 1,000 Guineas and has been even better in her two starts since.

She saw off Roly Poly in the Irish Guineas and thrashed the same stablemate in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. Considering Roly Poly has won two Grade 1s since the form looks exceptional.

Today's extra two furlongs won't be a problem. I'm confident her proven class will drag her through the mud to glory.

I've always thought Queen's Trust was top class. Her fourth to Highland Reel in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes was a fine effort but the ground has gone against her.
So Mi Dar has Frankie Dettori on top. She's really classy but testing going in a hot race can't be ideal for her belated return.

MARK JOHNSTON has a great Glorious Goodwood record and I reckon he'll win this race for the third time in four years with POET'S PRINCE.

My fancy chased home subsequent Listed winner Raydiance on his debut. He found the ground too quick on his second start but made no mistake when upped to today's trip at Ayr.

A high draw is usually a negative over seven furlongs at this track but they're likely to come to the stands' side in the straight with the ground riding soft so it shouldn't be a problem.

Johnston also runs unbeaten Poetic Steps. She's got a chance but I just reckon Poet's Prince is better weighted.

Richard Hannon ha a strong hand. His Tangled bolted up on his handicap debut at Newmarket and he's bred for today's softer conditions.

Stablemate Billesdon Brook went close in a Sandown Listed race last week. That gives him a fine chance but he's almost obliged to run today as he faces a rise in the weights.

IT'S hard to see this maiden being anything than more Aidan O'Brien Magic.

The Irish wizard won this race 12 months ago with Rhododendron and her sister MAGICAL should have little trouble keeping it in the family.

She made a hugely-promising debut and should love the step up to seven furlongs.

Roulette looks best of the rest but keep an eye on unraced Ripley.

5.20

MEGAN LILY should take advantage of the stands' rail in this sprint handicap.

She won at Chester on soft ground in June and had little chance from a wide draw there last time. The going has given Richard Fahey's filly a fine chance.

Kevin Ryan has won this race three times in the last seven years. His Major Jumbo keeps creeping up the weights without winning. Top apprentice David Egan taking off 5lbs will help his chances.
Fair Cop has stacks of potential and Carlton Frankie is another with claims in an open race.
