Melbourne Cup on the agenda for Marco Botti’s Dylan Mouth
Botti could run Dylan Mouth in either the American St Leger or the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury where he may join fellow Cup hopeful Francis Of Assisi
THE Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury could hold vital clues for the Melbourne Cup as it was announced Dylan Mouth has the race as an option.
Connections are weighing up a tilt at the Emirates Melbourne Cup and Dylan Mouth could join fellow Cup hopeful Francis Of Assisi at Newbury.
However, Marco Botti is also considering the American St Leger at Arlington.
Dylan Mouth was last seen bouncing back to form in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock.
Botti said: "I was happy the owner had second thoughts about sending him to the July Sales. It was a nice race for him to win at Haydock.
"He owes the owners nothing, but luckily we have him until the end of the season.
"We are considering the American St Leger as his next target, or the Geoffrey Freer.

"It will be one or the other, then maybe a crack at the Melbourne Cup.
"They are the races we are considering, but we are yet to finalise a plan.
"Obviously he would not have got into the Melbourne Cup before his win at Haydock, but he should do now off a good weight. The Melbourne Cup becomes more competitive and harder to get in every year, but at least we are halfway there now."
