FRENCH FLYER was very impressive when winning on his debut here last time out. That was over 6f but he ran on strongly in the closing stages so this longer distance should be ideal. Trainer Michael Dods is in good form and there should be improvement to come.

BE KOOL won well at York two starts ago and put in an arguably better performance when fourth in good company on the Knavesmire last time out. He may have just found the mile a little on the testing side and the drop back to 7f looks wise.

DUNCAN OF SCOTLAND was beaten in a tight finish at Fairyhouse last time in what was probably a better contest than this. He saves his best for this distance and has come across from Ireland before to win here. He’s on a fair mark and should be right there again.

RUBIS is only 3lb higher in the weights than when winning over course and distance two starts ago. She has since gone and run with credit at Ripon and her handy rider is good value for his claim. This ground suits and she should go well again.

BILLY BOND has had some help from the handicapper despite showing some decent form in defeat this season. He was second at Ripon last time and went close at Hamilton a couple of starts ago. He likes this trip and has every chance in an open contest.

ZABEEL PRINCE looked a very nice prospect when winning his maiden at Nottingham last time by an easy three lengths. Despite that convincing win, the handicapper has given him a handy opening mark of just 86 that will make him hard to beat.

EASY WIND is the latest off the Sir Mark Prescott production line. She’s had three runs in maidens over 7f and is massively stepped up in distance for this handicap debut. This trip will suit on breeding and she has very little weight on her back – even before taking her rider’s claim into account.
