Shoemark celebrates his Royal Ascot win on Atty Persse last year

NEWMARKET

1.50 - Mullen's star bet

ATTY PERSSE was highly impressive when winning the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot last time over 1m4f.

He took that in the manner of a Group horse and the step up in distance looks well within his capabilities. He won’t mind the slightly easier ground because he’s won on soft.

A win here could put him right in the St Leger picture.

2.25

Although horses at this early stage of their career can progress quickly, it was hard not to be impressed by RAJASINGHE at Royal Ascot.

He battled to win the Coventry Stakes and clocked a fast time in the process. That was just his second run so there should be more to come.

Sound And Silence also impressed with a Royal victory while Enjazaat is another capable of taking a hand.

3.00

VICTORY ANGEL has a good each-way chance as he takes this drop in class. He couldn’t land a blow in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last time and this longer distance could also suit.

He has some decent form at Newmarket and is capable of hitting the frame. Cartographer and Golden Apollo both look very progressive too and could improve past their marks.

3.35

POET’S WORD has been crying out for this longer distance as he showed when beaten a neck in the Group 3 Huxley at Chester last time.

A few more yards would have delivered victory and there should be improvement to come given he’s got relatively few miles on the clock.

Frontiersman ran well in the Coronation Cup at Epsom last time despite not handling the track and was an impressive handicap winner on his last outing over course and distance.

4.05

LAMYA cost a pretty penny at the Breeze-up sales and can start to repay some of that fee here. She should be ideally suited by this trip and trainer Richard Hannon is a dab hand at getting them ready at home for races like this.

Fabulous Red didn’t get the run of the race when second on debut at Doncaster last time and should benefit from the experience.

4.35

SHAMSHON ran really well to finish third at Sundown last time, beaten less than a neck despite having to come around the field.

That was over this 5f trip on similar ground and he has dropped to what looks a very winnable mark.

Jumira Bridge should appreciate this big field after being caught out by a muddling pace against four rivals here last time.

5.05

RONALD R looked an unlucky loser in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot last time, beaten half a length despite being forced to all but stop at a crucial stage.

He stayed on well again over the mile trip and the stiffish finish here should bring out the best in him.

Tricorn is highly consistent and was a place behind the selection at the Royal meeting. He won on his last visit here and is still on a realistic enough handicap mark.
