Further Boynton blow for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby

Charlie Appleby also had an update on his Windsor Castle winner Sound And Silence, who is set to go up in grade for the Molecomb Stakes at the Qatar Goodwood Festival.

CHARLIE APPLEBY has announced that Group Two winner Boynton has met with an injury setback and must spend more time on the sidelines.

The three-year-old colt, winner of last year's Superlative Stakes at Newmarket, has not been seen since he lost his unbeaten record in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood last July.

Appleby said: "Boynton has met with a setback. It is not season-ending, but he just popped a splint about three weeks ago.

"It was during the gallop I was trying to prepare him for Ascot. He is back jogging but we are just starting to try and build him up again.

"With his sort of pedigree it might be a bold ask, but you could look towards America later in the year, whether that is the Breeders' Cup or a prep race later, or Dubai for the winter."

Plans remain in place for Windsor Castle Stakes winner Sound And Silence to be stepped up to Group Three company for the first time in the Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood.

Stablemate Roussel finished runner-up in the Windsor Castle and is in line to run later in the week.

Appleby added: "Sound And Silence has come out of the race well and the Molecomb is the obvious target for him, so that is where he will head next.

"Roussel has also come out of it well and he will go for the Dragon Stakes at Sandown on Friday, all being well.

"Hopefully he will go well and enhance the form of the Windsor Castle."
