Royal Ascot 2017 – Different League wins the Albany Stakes for France
The French raider showed plenty of speed and a great turn of foot to hold off the persistent challenge of favourite Alpha Centauri at Royal Ascot on Friday
BARGAIN filly Different League dented some large reputations with a surprise win in the Albany Stakes.
The French raider had been backed at big prices but was still allowed to go off a 20-1 shot.
Well backed favourite Alpha Centauri battled all the way to the line on the far side with the winner, but she could only manage second.
Take Me With You came home third.
Winning jockey Antoine Hamelin said: “It was a very good performance, this is a great feeling. I love this filly.
“It’s amazing, I’m really happy to be here, this is great for me but it’s great for everyone back home at the yard.
“A first winner at Royal Ascot is a dream for me.
