Royal Ascot 2017 – Sioux Nation wins the Norfolk Stakes for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore
Sioux Nation was relatively unfancied in the market, but he showed bags of speed to win the opening race on day three of the Royal meeting under Ryan Moore
SIOUX NATION got Aidan O'Brien off to a flyer on day three of Royal Ascot with victory in the Norfolk Stakes.
O'Brien's two-year-old needed to step up from his previous efforts, but he did just that as he sped away from the field.
They split into two groups, with Sioux Nation coming home in front on the far side rail.
Santry was best of the other group in second with Cardsharp following him home in third.
Frozen Angel, second in the far side group came home fourth.
Moore said: "To be fair, the ground is probably even everywhere. I wouldn't read too much into the track or the draw, it's just where the pace was on the first couple of days.

"The pace was the other side today and that's the difference.
"This is a very good colt. When I rode him first time - you can see how big he is - he just needed the run. He's had ground go against him since and on good, fast ground today, he always travelled like the winner. He needs fast ground.
"He was a bit lonely there on his own, but he's a very good colt."
