Racing Tips – Top Tipster Steve Mullen’s best racing selections for Friday, June 16

Steve Mullen guides you through Friday's racing from York, Sandown, Newton Abbot, Chepstow, Goodwood and Aintree

Sandown racecourse

1.50

TULIP FEVER looked a nice prospect when beaten just a length into third at Nottingham on debut last time. She was noticeably green in the early stages before finishing the race well.

There are plenty of sprint winners in her family and you would expect significant improvement from that first run.

2.20

DANCE KING was beaten just over a length here last time over 1m4f and this drop back in distance looks a wise move.

His challenge just faltered in the very late stages and, while he has won over that trip, he’s better over this one.

Stablemate Just Hiss is another to keep an eye on in the betting as he has looked in need of his couple of runs so far this season.

2.55

MILTON ROAD ran away with a Goodwood seller last time and can follow up here. That was over 5f but he has shown signs of staying this far and he looks open to further improvement.

Our Little Pony looks the main danger after a game success at Beverley last time.

3.30

At his best GOTHIC EMPIRE would be the pick of this bunch and he comes here after an unlucky fifth at Yarmouth last time.

He was going well entering the final quarter-mile but was bumped badly and did well to finish within two lengths of the lead as he did.

He’s had a little drop in the weights and that only boosts his chances.

4.05

SOUTHERN BELLE reared at the gates when fourth at Goodwood last time and did really well to make up lots of ground over 6f.

That left her a little short of petrol at the business end and she had to settle for fourth. This is her best trip and she looks on a fair mark.

4.40

MONJENI has improved in leaps and bounds since joining Ian Williams, with three wins already to his name this season.

He relished this sort of trip when winning as he pleased at Haydock last time and a 6lb rise in the weights should prove little problem.

5.15

HURRICANE HOLLOW took a big step forward when second on his handicap debut at Ripon last time. He may be seven but has few miles on the clock and is open to improvement.

He is off the same mark as last time with his rider taking a potentially valuable 3lb off.
