LIGHTENING DANCE made a very pleasing start to her career over course and distance last time out. She was green in the extreme but still good enough to finish a neck off the pace in second. That proves she handles the track and it wouldn’t take much improvement to win this.

SILVER GHOST (NAP) has improved since moving to Eve Johnson Houghton and almost got off the mark when second at Sandown last time out. He was staying on strongly in the closing stages over 1m2f there and this longer trip should be in his favour.

PETTOCHSIDE didn’t quite get home here over 6f last time trying to make all the running. He wasn’t beaten far in the end and usually runs well at this difficult track. The soft ground isn’t a problem and his ability to stay further might help in the conditions.

MEDBURN CUTLER is a consistent performer at this level and he ran well to finish a close second over course and distance last time out. He likes some give in the ground and has been knocking on the door off this sort of handicap mark.

MILTON ROAD is taking a fair drop in class to a seller despite some fair efforts in maidens. He has run well a couple of times at Brighton, which is another difficult track, so he should be able to cope with Goodwood.

MEDBURN DREAM has handled this track well enough on previous visits, including when a close-up fourth over course and distance last time out. It was on the firm side that day but he’s equally at home in more testing conditions and he’s had a bit of help from the handicapper.

CRAFTY MADAM has shown promise on all three of her outings so far including when winning by a head at Salisbury last time out. That was over 6f but there’s no reason why she shouldn’t get home over this longer distance. There should be plenty of improvement in her and an opening handicap mark of 72 looks fair enough.
